Osteoporosis drugs causing odd fractures

According to a study in Clinical Endocrinology, long-term bisphosphonate therapy may increase the risk of unusual long bone mid-shaft fractures. The researchers believe that this is probably due to prolonged suppression of bone turnover, which could lead to accumulation of microdamage and development of hypermineralized bone. The complication in the larger context of patients remains unknown.

Bonnie - osteoporosis drugs only maintain weak, brittle bone. Where have we heard this before?
