The same day as the Archives of Internal Medicine study came out, a JAMA study, which had been previously discredited for its design, found that vitamin E may increase prostate cancer risk. We said back in 2004 when they last reported on this study that it was poorly designed and used only synthetic alpha tocopherol, not natural, mixed tocopherol vitamin E. The lead researchers even alludes to this. Any nutritional expert worth their salt knows that therapeutic supplemental vitamin E needs to be dispensed as mixed tocopherols. Most of the studies showing the benefits of vitamin E have used mixed tocopherols.
