How the Farm Bill Could Keep You from Banning Roundup at Your Kid’s Playground

Seems like this goes against Congress and the current executive administration beliefs about putting more control in the hands of states and local governments. Seems like Bayer/Monsanto lobbying tipped the scales on this one.

True US Grass-Fed Beef Should Be Labeled As Such

Since the country of origin labeling law was repealed a few years ago, grass-fed beef has suffered the consequences, with labeling that misleads consumers. Simply, almost 50% of grass-fed beef labeled as Made in the USA, actually comes from other countries. Legally, US meat packers can do this now because as long as the meat is finished in the US, they can label it as such.

We warned that this would happen once the country of origin labeling law was repealed. This piece in New Food Economy says it all.

If you would like to voice your opinion for truthfully labeling grass-fed beef, please comment the government here.

In the meantime, if you want grass-fed beef that is fully American, look at the fine print on the label. If you see something other than "Product of USA," it is not a fully American product. Often, you will see Product of USA, Australia, and Uruguay or other countries included.

Just because the meat comes from other countries does not mean it is not grass-fed. Australia's standards are very high as are Uruguay's. However, there is not true oversight.

The best thing you can do is find a local purveyor that you can track all the way back to the local farm!

Many People Taking Antidepressants Discover They Cannot Quit

Please, please, please...be very careful when thinking about going off of an antidepressant. It can be very dangerous. We have plenty of experience with this, but there is not one specific protocol. It depends upon the individual.
